They are more likely to hire someone who is working at some job, any job over someone who is not working.
The reasoning.. this person really wants to work.

I really pray that congress will add more weeks to the extention and some point in time. Yes there may be jobs out there, and I am one that is looking constantly. My unemployment benefits ended in July. I am still looking for employment and my husband doesn't make enough to keep our household afloat. I believe that the economy will continue to fall if congress doesn't change their views. Belive it or not we are the ones to determine whether or not they will be elected or re-elected. I am pray for everyone in my situation and those who are not. God is the only one in control. I will continue to put my faith in Christ and not the lawmakers.

Unemployment compensation has given me the opportunity to continue looking for a better position. Otherwise, I would have to fall out into a job with no future or lot less paying. I would have less time to continue pursuing a job that I have experience in my skill set.
Unemployment compensation gives me some leeway to finding a better job not just any job.

Shame on you for writing such lies. I have never seen anyone living the life of Reilly on 1/4 of their income. It really shows how much you just made that whole story up; and really for what reason. Unless you wrote that post because you are getting paid by the Republicans, trust me, if the government does not continue supporting people that are being affected by this recession you will be unemployed also.
Are you really so stupid that you don't know that this country runs by consumerism, meaning that the country is run by what the average American has as expendable income.
Unfortunately a lot of that expendable income was in the form of credit (very few people have 100K sitting in the bank to pay for a home, or even 15K to pay for a car, so you have to have credit). Unemployment at this time is just there to allow people to pay the minimum payments. If 9 plus million people are taken off unemployment (as you suggest) then that would mean how many millions of homes will go into foreclosure, how many cars will be reposed, how many credit card will not be paid, how many groceries will not be brought and the list goes on. So if for instance I own a grocery store and I am getting half of the business then I’m going to cut my largest expenditure which is labor. So now you have added additional people to the ranks of the unemployed. So people like you feel it’s wise to cause a domino effect on the economy causing a downward spiral instead of bolstering it up until solutions can be found or because this type of affect is usually cyclical, just keep it going until it bounces back (which it has always done in the past). BTW the US has been in much worse shape then it is now and has come back, you either believe in this country or you don’t.
Since people like you think that it is such a good deal being unemployed why don't you give up your job to someo

Job security seems to be military nowadays-what a sad time we live in. I see people getting benefits and still buying big screen tv's, new clothes, etc. and others suffering and not able to collect any help. (hmmm....illegal money coming in?....not like anyone really checks up or anything) There are so many programs offered to help with education, housing, etc. and it appears that some that get into the programs do help themselves, but many more I see take advantage of the programs and feel it is "owed" to them and are not grateful they were given the opportunities, nor do they even realize what they were given. It is hard when you just miss qualifications for any help and have to work your butt off, sometimes multiple jobs, pay your own school, live on friends couches, etc. just to make it by and still not complain, you just do it and are grateful that you are where you are because it could be worse. And then you see others who get things free, and still whine that it was "not fair and not enough". If you cannot help yourself, or try to, why should everyone else? Someone is working to support your benefits!
Why not make those collecting benefits have to put in some kind of "volunteer hours" to keep getting them...kind of like a job....hmmm....maybe people can help at the Y daycares, pick up garbage at the parks, mow lawns of government offices. Why not?, Instead of cutting budgets, why not everyone work together more and make things better together. If I needed financial help and was told in order to get it, I had to volunteer and pick up garbage at the park, well, I would do it.

I have been on the unemployment line for 73 months my benfits have run out and I on the line to living in a van down by the river my home now has no food I have been denied welfar my wife has left me to live with her parents my Adult child will no longer talk to me even though she is in the same boat as me and the other 3 million unemployed to say I have lost all hope would be a lie. Some small very small mind you part of me still believes Congress will do the right thing be after they could enjoy a 2 week vacation spent with Family and Friend which i do believe was enjoyable knowing they will never have to worry about unemplyment knowing that upon retirement they will draw a check for the rest of there greedy lifes that to go along with millions they have got for the Lobist in Washington to buy the votes that do get in passed in Congress but i still believe they will do what is right so they can reelected and keep the Congressional Money Train rolling in but i Digress Congress will pass to keep extensions going for my 26 weeks which will give me time to plan my death and how I will go about ending it all, so I don't have to suffer what is yet to come after it all runs out America will Have Its Second Civil War and really don't want to see it...........
