I agree with the main point of this article, but just because you apply for some of these jobs, doesn't mean that you are going to get it. Even an entry-level, minimum wage job is not easy to get and there is a lot of competition even for those.

been out of work since July, that is when my company pulled a fast one on us. THey put in 1.5 million dollars to upgrade new equipment, extended the building, lots of brand new changes to make us the main call center for va, del, and md. hired 15 new people to get up to 30 call reps in the brand new center to handle all the calls coming from all the small call centers. made all kinds of speeches how secured our jobs were and so on. that was all last year. so this past march, the #$tch that was in charge was in another state the cs manager and she did not want to travel to come to the MAJOR call center was getting tired of it. and complained to the VP of the district. BROWN nosed all the way, so march of this year we were told 16 were out of a job as of JULY 2010. 16 people lost there job becasue one $%tch did not want to travel once a month. SHE should never have taken the job, as CS MANAGER if she did not want to travel. THere were plenty of canidates that could have been CS MANAGER at the main call center. BUT know whe told the VP she could handle it. NOW 16 people are out of a job, 1.5 million dollars was wasted on a building and new equipment . only 1/2 the crew is there so there is so much wasted space money and time. and that 1/2 crew time is running out as well. she now wants everyone where she is. I just love watching these corp. waste money, then scream they are broke. 1.5 MILLION dollars wasted in less then a year.

I have been out of work since Mar 2008. My unemployment is long gone. I have $200 left in savings and cannot make my home payment this month. I went from making $47/hour to $8/hour and this job is seasonal & will end on Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas to me.
Next month, I will be homeless. Although I don't have any children to care for, it's just me, I have 2 dogs. I guess the 3 of us will be living out of the back of my SUV next month. The few dollars I have left will be for their care, I can live off of little to none. Please send a prayer to all of those who are either as unfortunate as I am, or even less fortunate. That's all I ask. Well, I do have one more question... where's my job?

How many people do you know that uses electricity? Everyone does,
I found a company that lets you get paid for paying your electric bill,,,I jumped to the idea, I was my very first customer. I sign them as customers and then I teach people how to do the same as I do. We both make money every month. The bad thing at this point is they are only in 3 states,TX, GA and PA the good news is they are expanding rapidly and I am in on the ground floor building a great team of friend. I love the training, communication, support and most of all helping people save money and make money just for paying the same bill they paid last month but this month they can get paid back for it. And I can not forget the friendship I have made across the United States and will make so many more. I can not believe it is this easy to make money and love doing.

Thank you Donna for sharing that .I also am working a job that is paying very low wages and i am stressing every day to stretch money that is just not there. I have an opportunity to do a live in position that would help me save so much money on shelter and food and daily expenses. I have an adult child so it would just be me moving into the job.Like you i want and will survive . Thank you !!

I was a title clerk for a large (corporate) auto delership chain and I lost my job in September of 2008 due to store closings, bla bla...I was out of work for almost 8 months drawing unemployment and enterviewing constantly for jobs in my field and out of my field and turning down jobs because I wanted to try to stay close to the salary range I was accustomed to. Finally I saw where things were going in the economy very clearly... I took a job out of my field and out of my accustomed pay range. I was miserable, I was sitting at a desk with a supervisor over me that loved the fact that I had more experience for her job than she was. She literally treated me unkindly. I worked for 365 days and they let me go with no compasion at the end of the last day for no reason. (Later I was told by an ex-coworker I was let me go because of the vacation time and raise that was due to me). Long story short...I went 3 weeks out of work scared of only having my unemployment to get by on and me with a home, teenager still home with me, and deplinished savings from being out of work for the 8 months before...I rented my house out and moved to another state and took a job as an Office Manager for a company. I am still not making the pay I was making in 2008 but it is better than the middle job that I was let go from and I am able to be independant and not on assistance. I moved my teenager from her friends and left my home for work. I guess my point here is, where there is a will there is a way...I made my mind up I would survive, so survive I have!!
