I sure wish this writer would proofread her work ... shameful, especially on a site as prestigious as this. Where are the publication's editors?????

My husband works for one the companies listed. He works 12-14 hours per day, receives emails and IM's, phone messages 24/7, and loses 2 days of vacation time per month because he doesn't have the time to take it. When he does take vacation (FTO) he returns to a workload that takes weeks to catch-up. His employees are retiring early and people are changing jobs at an unprecedented rate due to burn-out. The result is no one knows how to do their jobs very well because jobs are full of comlpex processes and the time in positions is too short to become fully competent in their roles. Either he has a very important and critical position at this company, which is not reflected in his compensation, or the definition of work-life balance has been redefined and no one has told us. I guess I should be happy that he's employed in this economy. At least that's what they tell him.

Sometimes a business can't do all of these things, but they can at least make an attempt to provide a better workplace, which in turn will lower costs for them in turnover and employee health issues.

I work from home as a freelance writer for http://flylnk.com/writers so I can't complain about my current situation, but I do feel sorry for those who hate their jobs and have to go to work every day dreading what they will experience. I've done that before too, so I know how they feel.
