Very interesting article, something I needed to remove me for the self imposed box.

Thanks

Much valuable info here. How do I transition from menial jobs to what I went to school for over a decade ago?

Can I start a tiny business w/o being registered with city.

I am currently transitioning into another career in the industry I transitioned INTO after 30 years in another field. Couldn't be happier with the choice I made, though it was a bit rough in the beginning since you are essentially starting over and have to prove yourself.

If you make the move to transition, make sure you jettison some of your attitudes and desire to hang onto outmoded ideals and behaviors. It's a brand-new 'normal' out there, and you'll probably find that you'll be working two (or three) smaller jobs at the same time to pull in the money to live on that one bigger paycheck once supplied. You may even have an extra side business to add even more diversity to the money mix in your life.

Oddly, I find that I have more free or 'me' time than I ever did in the past, as my employer(s) seemed to think I should have no life outside of the job--especially since I was paid no overtime as a salaried worker.

"Focus on your transferable skills." This is a good bullet point to focus on. New employers are curious what you can bring to the table, especially when you can coming from another firm/similar company. http://www.exechunter.com/blog/
