Correction- Pharmacists do not have to go through a residency. Residencies are not available for all graduates; those who wish to work in a hospital setting vs retail or industry, however, must go through a residency.

2nd Correction- Physical therapists new to the field are now required to have a doctoral degree. Occupational therapists may likely follow suit in the future. However there are many OTs with bachelor's degrees and PTs with master's degrees who are currently working in the field.

Personal Experience, the hotel business has been great for years. Start entry level at 40-60 thousand plus bonus. Advance to 80-150 or more.

You sell blocks of guestrooms, meeting space, banquet space and services to event planners.'

Work in nice surroundings and advance fast. Fun busiiness. My best year was 185K, but many of my friends have done better.

Try ahla or aprinda.com to get started online.

Everyone should be prepared to expect the low end of the 'range' of salary. The idea that experience and kudos from customers/patients and coworkers and working hard (HARD) will get notice is a myth. I would be interested in percentage of people who even earn the mid range. I am 62 y.o. and know that employee rights/compensation is declining.

Obtaining at minimal a BSN opens more doors vs an RN with an AA degree

Ok, first of all this nurse is absolutely right! Secondly, Amy, clearly you aren't a nurse so shut your mouth! I love being a nurse but most doctors are arrogant !??holes and nurses aren't given the respect and appreciation they deserve. You have to be an intelligent, hardworking, compassionate critical thinker if you want to succeed in nursing. Sadly, most people think we are only there to give you a bedpan or listen and do everything doctors tell us too which is so ridiculous because most of the time the nurses are calling the doctors to correct their mistakes that could potentially kill a patient or remind them to write orders on their patients that they seem to forget are sick and in need of medical assistance. I could go on and on. If you are not a nurse they you have no right telling any nurse to get out of the field if they don't like it!! Or better yet, lets see you go to nursing school, get through it and then work as a nurse!!!

NURSE!!!???? this is a joke! Ive been a nurse since I was 21 years old, just over 15 years and it is hell!! If you LOVE being screamed at, physically abused and being blamed for all the pateints problems , this career is for you!! I often spend many hours on end on my feet or behind a PC charting, sometimes holding back tears because my back hurts so bad! God forbid you pop an Advil in eyesight of other nurses, than you are a "junkie" and may be acussed of stealing narcs the next time the count is off!!!. I NEVER get a lunch break and if per chance I do other nurses look down on me for being "lazy".Eventhough I pay by staying late for taking that lunch!!They say "nurses eat their young" and that is true at least 90% of the time, you will receive little to no support!! You will be written up for not hanging an I.V at EXACTLY 900am because you have a patient crying and begging you to just listen to them!!! you have to work Christmas Day, EAster, Nights, weekends and you could literally lose your ass for a simple mistake, like failure to document something. Bringing someone their "pain pill" half an hour late because you were dealing with someone who was vomtting "coffee ground" type substance, a sign of internal bleeding or you evaluating someone who slipped and fell in their own piss for fractures and head injuries , ectr and YOU SLIP AND FALL IN THE PISS TOO!!! sound like fun???Often you dont even have the supplies or equipment you need to perform your job, so, you could easily waste an hour "hunting" down an I.V. pump only to find one that is dirty and needs to be disinfected first!?! I could ramble on and on but , I'll spare you my boring tales. There are some positive perks but i can't think of any right now and the pay in relation to the TREMENDOUS responsibility you hold is pitiful at best! YOU are the DOCTOR, you asses, evaulate and communicate to the M.D. , who can't even get up and "look" at the patient. Than you transcribe his/her shitty handwriting, place the order , order the meds/treatments/labs ectr. they ordered, if needed, administer the meds or treatments than meticously document all this and the outcome and interventions.the almighty The part of the M.D in this example takes maybe 10 seconds, the nurses part can take hours and THIS is the BEST career in America.
