Dear MR. BOCK of TX,

You may think being a nurse is being a "pathetic public servant" and we are beneath you because you make more money but I bet someday when you need one a nurse will be there for you with compassion and dedication.

We aren't nurses for the money, we are nurses because we care about others and their suffering, of all kinds, we care about giving the sick and dying some dignity.

So before you judge us and call us derogatory names you just think about the nurses that cared for you and your Mother when you were born, and the nurses that care for you through out your life time and the nurses who will be at your side when the time comes to die, the nurses who will care for your sick children and parents with dementia.

It's a good thing nurses don't care who you are, or what you have done or said in your life before extending their healing and compassion to you. We will treat you with the same care that we give the person who never called us names and belittled what we do.

Such a pathetic list, when did the United States turn to a country of middle men and public servants. I see no real industrial jobs listed which is a complete sham. Everything America is, came to be because of our industrial revolution, I make over 100k annual as a Machinist, in one week i make well over $15,000 for my employers. As long as the men are sitting on their butts filing papers, our once great nation will continue to fall into China's pocket.

As a Registered Nurse, I am pleased to read this article. All of the health care related careers can be financially productive. I have quadrupled my income which pre-nursing was about 18K, in 14 years! I do not know many other jobs that can make that claim. I went from being the victim of divorce and very poor to able to purchase and still afford my own home. Health care jobs are certainly a boost to the economy. Yes, we work long hard hours. Yes, the work is stressful at times, and yes the education is difficult...but well worth it! I am proud to be a Registered Nurse and recommend the career to young men and women every day!

Oil / Gas maybe???

18 yr old High Grads, making $80K rougnecking.

Single father, aged 26, raising two boys, works 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off driving a HotShot truck makes $110K, while sister tends. When home, he's "Mr. Mom", 24/7.

How about Agriculture then....

Ranchers in Wyoming are hiring summer help, $1000/wk, plus room and board.

Utility, TX, AZ, NM, CO, UT - land firefights, road construction, take your pick, all paying good money.

Advise for all east coast dreamers, "head west young man, ....and a little south. Roll up your sleeves and be sure to call your mother every Sunday."

Nursing is NOT an good job to seek right now. So many nurses LPN and RN are pouring out of the schools. They enrolled thinking the position was "recession proof"...but as the economy worsens, retired nurses with lots of experience are going back into the field and are being chosen rather than the new grads...look up "I cant find a job as a new RN or LPN grad" on google. For now, this career is tapped out.
