What Do Interviewers Notice First About You?

Very good comments , although they say that if an interviiewer wants to give you the work there is nothing that can stop them from doing so.

I think what they are looking for is the value that you bring to the company as well as your perspective of the company.

It seems to me that your skills are the least important thing nowdays and all the formalities and politeness are more important. How pathetic.

None of this info is particularly insightful or new!

What to say When asked your worse habit?

I was a part-time college student who also worked early mornings as an computer operator. Every morning I would ride the elevator down with a older guy named Bill to the coffee shop on my way home. He worked in one of the companies on the floor above me early mornings too. We'd chat and exchange pleasantries about our day so far, weather, plans etc. I graduated and applied for a full-time job for a company near by. Went for the interview and was greeted by my elevator friend, the owner who only asked "when can you start"! So you never know who you are talking to!

This is in response to Clarks comments about how employers should get along with the jerks and said that every worsite has them. Yes, I do agree there are jerks at worksites, which always amazes me why companies keep these kind of people. A lot of times it not the job that can be difficult it's working with the jerks that companies just seem to hang onto. And the Nice people leave. I wish companies would realize how toxic these people.

Souns like Clark wants a pushover who is willing to be treated like dirt and not stand up for themselves so they can barely make enough money to pay the bills, let alone put food on the table! Great idea Clark. Hire someone who never complains, is always happy even when they are treated bad by others, and smiles to get a low pay rate, oh, and doesn't have any bad habits, and works their hiney off and is honest and sweet and dedicated. Get some robots.

do like i did i came on sandals beard not brushed talked very confident even i just went to work in a field where i had to experience and had to acquirer new skill on in he field itself i still got hired Later the manger told me i was never afraid of nothing and liked the challenge that why they hired me when i left the company they try to bribe me with a better position because i was very very good in my

work.

Years later the manger told me even i left the company the had profited very well from my work over there, they never found another with my production capacity

I started my own business in a total other field and since then till today i do it very well.

Decent article. As a hiring manager, i can add my insights. First of all, qualifications dont really matter much. I already know you're qualified, because i read your resume. If i didnt think you were qualified, i wouldn't have asked for the interview. After that, its ALL about your personality, and whether or not you will accept the job at the pay rate we are offering. Sure, i may have some specific questions about your background, but mostly i want to know what kind of person you are. Will you get along with the other employees? Are you a motivated self starter? Do you stop working to smoke cigarettes every 10 minutes? Do you spend 18 hours a day drinking hard liquor and come to work reeking of it on a daily basis? Can you accept when a decision is made that is different from your recommendation? Will you call HR every week and report to them how racist everyone you work with is, including the minorities?

Fit really is everything. Positive attitude and a willingness to get along with everyone, even the jerks (and every worksite has them)... thats what i am looking for.
