Good advice in this piece. Just recently I came across another article on the same topic: http://naturalknowledge247.wordpress.com/2012/03/08/getting-more-done-at-the-office/

One other very important point: Choosing NOT to mutli-task is also not such great advice. In truth, focusing one one task at a time makes more sense; the reality is that most jobs these days REQUIRE mutl-tasking several tasks at once and they actually state that specifically in their job descriptions. My field is publishing / communications and media. I have never had a job (or completed an application for one this year) that did not include multi-tasking in some manner. It's practically a given. I expected to see advise for time-management and how to effectively multi-task. I was very disappointed. Please do your homework and try again.

I'm sorry but I have to agree with "Living in the Real World." Surfing the net, taking 15- to 20-minute naps, and meditating just aren't options. The danger with non-work-related internet surfing or social media posting at work is well known. Naps? Is there a company in this world that actually allows that? Even on breaks? And healthy eating? It's easy to say but if you find yourself in a meeting that runs long or need to work late unexpectedly, your first instinct is to grab something quick and then get right back to it. Fear and blood sugar crashes are what drive lousy eating habits. Yes, junk food does have a boomerang effect and it does tear your system down one day at a time but the sad fact is the fear of missing a deadline for a project (ie, being a loser) trumps that.

These are the same idiotic "Productivity Improvements" that have been recycled over and over and over for the last 20 years! You pay people to come up with this nonsense? Surf the web...we get fired in the real world for "misusing company resources". Take a nap...we get fired of sleeping on the job. "Drink water and eat right"...come on! "come in early and leave late"..that’s the only productivity tool we are required to do. You forgot the "do yoga in the office". Journalism is DEAD!
