I work in retail for a large chain and I truly care for my customers. A lot of people are suffering because of the economy. Their credit is shot because of lay off ect. They need a way to buy, for Christmas. Lay away would help them, it would give them away to get the things they want for their families. We have never had a lay away plan. What do you think?

Layaway is a joke. I remember when layaway was up to 6 months. This was reasonable. 30 or 60 day layaway with weekly or bi-weekly payments? Who are they kidding. Most of the people layaway would be convenient for are monthly fixed income individuals. We don't have the weekly or mid-month income to meet these kind of terms. And only 30 days, not helping.... My recommendation - If your bank has Christmas Fund - use it. If not, put money in envelopes each time you get paid for future gift purchases, then leave it alone until the time comes to use it.

walmart is so big now they do not care if you cut back, go down street, or stop all together. if we could all stick together and stop using them so much and hit them in the pocket, they may come back. since the country is in the shape it is in now with jobs and cut backs and lower income, the other stores are now getting their prices close to walmart. that GREAT VALUE junk is almost as high or higher than name brand. and if there is just a few cents difference between brand name and GREAT VALUE, i will us brand name. give walmart as little as possible. AND YOU KNOW I WONDER WHATEVER HAPPENED TO WALMART IN THE NEWS ABOUT ALL THE TROUBLE THEY WERE IN WITH ILLEGAL PEOPLE WORKING, WORKING OFF THE CLOCK, NO OVER TIME PAY BUT HAD TO WORK, WOMEN NOT BEING TREATED RIGHT? goes to show that is you got money you can buy your way out of anything.

i do not go to walmart as much as i used too because there is no layaway. i am on a fixed income and have 8 grandchildren it is really hard to get christmas and birthday presents for all of them without layaway. So for now k-mart and other stores that offer layaway gets my business. i may sometimes have to pay more but it is the only way i can get some of the things i need and want. please bring it back. i know that a lot of people here did use that service. if you don't say good bye to a lot of customers.

I love Wal-Mart, I wish they would bring back their layaway program. I have had a bad turn of luck this year, no more credit cards.

Wal mart is too big to care. I doubt they will bring back layaway this year.

I won't shop at walmart because of not having a layaway. I have 4 boys and no credit cards so I have gone to sears and Kmart for everything I need.
