Your a dumb ass

I read the previous statements about the elderly basically should have invested better and they are getting what they deserve.
I am a Disabled United States Army Veteran, I was injured fighting for your rights to say what you want, when you want. I was suppose to stop working immediatley after my years of service and becoming disabled. I love working so, I continued to work full time and then some. One day I was at a stop light and I was rear ended by some excited teen drivers who weren't paying attention and they hit me at approx. 65 MPH. Needless to say, I broke my neck, broke my neck in multiple places, tore my shoulder and re injured my knees. I have had 9 durgeries in 10 years and need several more over time and I am not allowed to work anymore. I collect Social Security Disability because I have no other way to live and I have no choice in the matter. I did not retire from the Army and I was disabled before my 2nd tour was up so, I only get 10% for now and I really rely on Social Security. I am 39 years old and before I actually went on Disability, I had more than enough working credits to qualify for Social Security retirement and I am not even 40 yet. I have been working and serving full time since I was 13 years old. I did not go to college, I wanted to serve my Country as my Grandfather and those before him did, it has been the greatest honor of my life. I did not ask to be disabled from a car accident I could not prevent and yet there are those who feel I should have done things differently in my life so I wouldn't be on Disability right now. To those people I say, YOU would not be where you are now saying what you want and living free had it not been for myself and all of my Brothers and Sisters who took up arms to protect your very freedoms. Some people don't have a choice. If WE didn't fight for your freedoms that you enjoy everyday, YOUR life would NOT be the same. Social Security is a privilage that should be available to all those who are legal citizens, those that have contributed, and those that really have no other choice. Did you know that in the military, they don't offer a 401K? And what would you say to Soldiers families that have paid the ultimate sacrifice for your freedoms? Would you tell a grieving mom that her Son or Daughter should have done things better and that they would not be dead right now if they were smarter? For those of us that have served whether we saw action and became disabled or not, it was the greatest honor of our lives to serve for our countries and almost every soldier would do it all again. That is the choice we made for our loved ones and for you. The only thing I find unfair is that Social Security benfits are being paid to non citizens and to people that actually have a choice and CAN in fact work for a living. I know people with fibromyalgia that draw Disability benefits and fix their own cars, mow their lawns, shovel their snow, etc. Put the blame where it belongs. Some have no choice.

Social Security should be scaled back and then cut. The Baby boomer generation elected people who spent and spent and spent their social security funds. The funds should never have been touched. Social security, as it was 'proposed' should have, if it existed, been put into private institutions. The U.S. Government has used it as their own personal piggy bank. Do I feel bad that these people would loose every dime they ever invested into Social Security? No. They should have elected fiscally responsible politicians. They should have booted from government anyone who decided to appropriate these funds to escape budget limitations. And with the way our financial system has developed under the F.E.D., It's turned into less a situation of robbing peter to pay paul, as a situation of robbing peter to pay peter, then charging interest...both ways. Personally, I invest my money consistently, and will likely work until the day I die.

For years I have asked myself why do the people keep putting the same people back in Washington? These carreer politicians are lining their pockets at out expense. The to ad insult to ingury they elected Obama a non citizen. Gullible, grasping for straws, smoke and mirrors, etc. hood winked the people. Why is this possible in a nation that is considered to be educated? Because we have government run educational systems. When has a government ever done a good job at anything.
The dumming down of our nation went un-noticed for so many years. Then a book was written about it and everyone said, "No, our government would not do this"! Well folks they did. Now we do not have enough intelligent folks to elect a good leader. The bobble-heads created by our government run educational system out number the educated folks. The bankers have won. They now control the country, our monitary system, our courts, our media, etc. They will now systematically enslave us and kill anyone who can think for themselves. It is to late to man the pumps folks, the ship is going down and there are no lifeboats, no life preservers, and no rescue ships to save us. So what ever you do, do not pull your head out of the sand cause it will scare you to death.
Good-bye all!

Then you shoudn't have made an emotional move and pulled your money out of the funds before they recovered. You deserve what you'll get. If only I had the opportunity to opt out of Social Security. I'd waive all future retirement benefits for the option.
@Scott: I'll likely receive about 40 cents on every dollar that I put into the system. That's a return of -60% over 30 years of compounding. So where's the real theft???
Yes, older people should have been more responsible for their own retirements. How can they say they shouldn't be, but expect today's generation to increase their personal responsibility for theirs???

Love how the rich defend their station on this country. They sent most of the production out of the country and then stand on the people that they used to hire and then tell them to get a job when the job doesnt exist. The rich screwed the American dream. They dont care, they got theirs. Let the rest of them die is their motto.

Elderly and disabled cant work and earn more money. The Upper and middle class can. The government wants to take SS away from them? Sounds like theft to me.

using ss for a slush fund in the past caused the current condition of it. when the twin towers were savagly attacked by mindless, unfeeling terrorists, it was an unspeakable tragedy, and the victims of it and thier families definitely deservedand sorely needed help monitory and psycological, but i noticed one of the things that happened was ss funds were used to compensate big companies for thier profit line losses, while it is uncertain whether all of those that sorely needed help ever recieved anything signifficant, it is certain that ss suffered yet another mindless deep withdrawl, that will never be replaced. and i imagine that since it was done almost instantly without even considering any other cash of money, this has been the traditional way ss is misused withiout even considering the ill effects of doing so.
