It's easy when everytime you go somewhere someone is always trying to sell you a credit card, and it's not in our natures to be jerks to people and say "no" constantly.

Welcome to America, land of the Free Economic Slaves!!... As the bible states...
Proverbs 22:7 The poor are ruled by the rich,
and those who borrow
are slaves of moneylenders.

I think it grossly unethical for banks to arbitrarily raise interest rates on existing credit card balances of customers who have a solid record of on-time payments that meet or exceed the required minimums, allowing no alternative except to cancel the card. If times have changed, and more interest income is needed, then charge the higher rates to new customers, new balances, and those who are slow to repay, but don't make the changes retroactive to money borrowed under other terms.

i think the goverment should arrest the bankers who are going up on interest on folks that pay their bill on time . people are having a hard time and it seems the banks are the crooks now. why arrest anyone who robs the banks! the banks are robbing us every day. they start out with a interest rate then go up for no reason ! shame on the goverment for letting them do this.

I am glad to see credit card companies taking steps to encourage consumers to pay down their debit and pay bills on time. Although credit card rewards benefit some, so many others have spent more than they intended to in the hopes of getting a free airline ticket or cash back. Fortunately, so many Americans are now shifting their spending from credit to debit and it looks like that trend will continue for some time.
I work for PerkStreet Financial and next month we'll be introducing the first debit card to give you more rewards than a credit card. We believe that people who spend responsibly on debit - and avoid high interest credit card debt - should be rewarded.
