I want to know how there are Oct comments to this article posted on Nov 6.
The aspire act of 2009 is literally fishy. It has to do with tuna fishing subsidies on the other sideof the world in American Samoa.
The aspire act refered to in the article is not 2009 but 2007 and died two years ago. The same as the fish proposal dis on Nov 4th 2009. Now held in committee with no vote.
Wake up america these unprofession reporters not verifying crap are destroying their own credibility as well as america. It is not the radicals introducing the law too years ago. It is the radicals trying to sway your opinion by atributing it to others today. Who cares what happened in legislation two years ago. We have enough current problems.

This gives $500 (of borrowed money from China that is payable with interest) to the banks who can then lend out up to $5,000 based on it (fractional reserve banking). Also, usually any money simply given to someone pushes the cost of the end product up the same way tax credits for 1st -time homebuyers has helped mitigate the fall in housing prices temporarily.
If everyone has one dollar, the guy selling them an apple will get one dollar for the apple. If you give everyone 2 dollars, someone will offer to pay the apple guy 2 dollars. He will then tell the rest of the people that an apple costs $2.

Responsibility and sacrifice? This is more big government! I make decisions to do without immediate gratification and not buy things, rather , I put aside money for my retirement, my kids college, etc. Our grandparents did this, our parents did this, so why do we need the government to do this? ENOUGH!! How much of our tax dollars are going to be spent on this?

What a joke - Sounds like Russia in the 1970's. Are we going to continue to put up with this?

I think people need to read the act more carefully - there are restrictions on how it can be spent and they can't gain access to it until they are 18. Even then it is for school, buying the first home, or retirement.
Is it a perfect program? No, but few government programs ever are. But think of this way - would you rather pay $500 ONCE now to help a child go to college and make something of themselves and hopefully break the poverty cycle when they become adults, or would you rather pay them $500 a MONTH in food stamps or other welfare benefits because the same child was unable to get a college education and now as an adult has very limited opportunities for work and so fall into the same trap their parents are now in?
Also keep in mind - this program isn't just for the poor! The Trumps and Hiltons of the world would get that same $500. So it's not like your children would lose out on something.

Giving away more money we can't afford ! Why doesn't Mr. Obama cut out some of the money our nation has been giving to some of the third world countries in relief ? Maybe then we could at least cover what this man has printed that we can't BACK UP NOW ! And everyone had better take a look at this Copenhagen Treaty our government is trying to sneak through ! If this passes we will be under a world government and our Constitution is null and void ! Please email your congressmen and women every day if you have to and let them know how you feel ! They are easier to reach now than any time in history, yet no one does it ! Come on people, One person can't do it ! There ARE power in numbers though ! Let's stick together on this one !

Just when we should be responsible and cut spending we here talk of more spending. Do not start new programs get rid of some old ones like earned income credit. It is all redistribution of money. What happened to the indepindent American?

Why should families who can not afford new babies be rewarded in so many ways? We never relied on the government to support our kids, we never asked for their needs to be met by the Feds or state programs that give people incentives to keep on having more kids they can not afford to raise. Coupled with so much welfare fraud and stupid spending - can't afford school supplies but the new tattoo cost $150.00! You can buy alot of pencils for that much. I know some personally who has 7 or more tattoos, piercings etc, yet rely on the government for paying for childcare, lunch money, WIC when younger kids involved, rental assistance and the parents have not paid into the tax system that coovers them to be able to smoke, drink, and yes, have their body art. I know this is not everyone but I watch what goes on with some I know personally who brags about it, and here we paid our taxes for 40 plus years and do not get the help we need because we have no dependants or make $10 over the limit to get on the programs that could help older folks too. The help for families should be there as stepping stones to help them improve their lives, not to make it their lifestyle because it is an easier thing than working. Of course there are working parents who should be commended for working and raising their children with good values, but let me tell you I know people who basically think having new babies is their job because it increases their benefits.

Wake up people, the money would come from tax dollars, that's you and me. Socialism at it's finest. While we're at it, lets introduce retro-active abortion up to age 18. So, you could abort your child up to 18 years of age. That would put an end to poor performance in schools, misbehaviors and juvenile crime.
