Hi there! really creative... I like the idea of bartering, also started to trade online (especially on barterquest.com) because I wanted to find out, if it's really as money saving as people say. It is!! I think it's worth it, because it doesn't require too much time, you just have to get used to it (as it was in my case).

And your last point: so funny... because I do it for years - always just chewing a half stick of gum... think I saved a lot, only because of doing this!

Brewing beer, wine, ciders or mead at home can be more or less expensive than buying at the market depending on your standards. If all you want is light beer, it's probably not economical to brew it at home, but if you want something with more flavor (and alcohol), it's easier to beat the prices of premium and micro brew beers at the store.

Most home brewers find more satisfaction in the experimentation and flavor variety that brewing in small batches allows.

Assume that your labor is worth $10 per hour. If a 'tip' costs an hour to accomplish, did you save or earn $10? Adam Smith reported that discrete tasks be individualised to effect savings. Cooperatives practise forms of this. Waste is the real killer. Studies suggest that 35% of store bought food is discarded as waste! Really save money...get healthy. Quit smoking, quit drinking, exercise and eat fruits and vegetable. Simply brushing and flossing on a daily basis may prevent costly dental care.

@spaz of OH: You don't need to call a person a fool to get your point across. The only way you can know the cost of homemade beer is to have made some. Perhaps when you made it you were not very efficient and it is cheaper to make at home. Don't call people names because you disagree, you are the only one that looks bad when you do that. You know, I just sounded like a real Pollyanna and I'm not even close. You just pissed me off. I'll say it again, don't call a person a fool. Too bad you didn't have my dad, then you would know not to call anyone a fool.

Overall, a very good article. I am constantly looking for creative ways of saving a buck. And it need not be a chore; I actually enjoy the challenge. And it always feels good to brag 'I just got this for free'

Get saved. The Gospel works. God will give you true repentance if you ask for it. Then read up on PROVIDENCE in the INTERNATIONAL STANDARD BIBLE ENCYCLOPEDIA. This is primary.

Secondary: "Be not slothful in business, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord."

Making your own beer or wine costs about ten times more than buying it at the grocery. Whoever wrote this is a fool.

Cutting your own hair not only saves money but save time not having to wait in line and no one even notices.

Saving does not ensure that your money will keep the same value in the future. Purchasing Power of the money you save might go down. INVEST your moneyz. INVEST, INVEST!
