Just because a state has a high tax rate doesn't make it the "worst for rich people." This article is based on a false assumption.
New Jersey got rid of its millionaire's tax because they believed it was discouraging millionaires from living in New Jersey? Meanwhile New York is on the list for one of the highest tax rates for millionaires. So, logically, I'm sure now all the millionaires just can't wait to flood out of Manhattan and settle in Jersey, or Alaska, or South Dakota, or better yet, Wyoming (aka the Millionaire's Paradise).
I agree with ER Gonzales above: What they're paying for is not just the maintenance of those horrid, dirty, working-class lowlifes that rely on things like public health care and public schools... what they're paying for is the ability to live in the environment that's most comfortable to them... which ironically enough, with also have half-way decent health care and public education systems. Funny how that works out.

The welfare burdened structure of today's society forces the useful citizens to bear the burdens of the useless. Socialism will eventually reduce our Nation to brutal despotism. The lights of liberty are going out all over the world.

These states seem to provide economic environment that attracts more high income earners. You got to pay to play.
