Repeal the gpo/wep, for it is criminal! I am dropping my membership in AARP. It does not protect seniors.

Alvin T. Covert of TX 5:01PM November 27, 2011

I will never join AARP. That organization refuses to support the repeal of WEP and GPO, two laws that reduce the EARNED Benefits of many seniors by up to 60%. To hell with AARP!!!

I have never seen so many old people bending over with the AARP behind them.

I shall never renew nor will I subscribe to any of their companies. I feel totally used>

I am poor and have worked all my life. I could've used that money social security arbitrarily took from me. My only consolation (and a big one) was that I could count on my benefits. Every 10 years or so I have received a notice of SS benefits. I was led to believe that the amount indicated was true (why wouldn't I think so?). I have planned my meager retirement based on those notices, and now I am to understand that my bene's can be reduced or taken away? And all because the federal government has borrowed against the ss endowment, without the payors' (our) consent? In the PRIVATE sector this would be considered a crime punishable with prison time and heavy fines, not to mention replacement of funds. I say PROSECUTE the government for its high crimes.

Repeal the Windfall Elimination Provision....For 50 years (1933-1983) and 12 white house administrations, and thousands of goverment audits, no one found a windfall...Suddenly in 1982, there was one !!!!!! That is and was impossible !!!! It effected divided one federal employee group against another...and fistfights broke out the day it took effect..the Windfall Elimination Provision was the catalyst for that.

I think if Social Security is modified in any way from the 1982 guidelines (wasn't that the modification to end all modifications?), every citizen should be given the option to take their contributions and the contributions of their employers out as a lump-sum, with the accrued interest of the Treasury bills they were invested in. That way, I can get my money back and not have to listen to this Congressional noise and nonsense about increasing the retirement age. I want my money back!!!!

I am a member of AARP. I have ben reading on the AARP webpage that "AAROP's position has not changed. We continue to support SS and seek to strengthen the system." Spell it out for us AARP: cuts or no cuts? If cuts then where will they fall? What is AARP's plan to strengthen SS? We need specifics not sound bites! I'm with the reader above, if AARP doesn't protect SS and Medicare programs, then they serve some other constituency--- NOT SENIORS!
