Great article - very inspiring. I am a stay-at-home mother that is about to have to re-enter the working world once my youngest starts elementary school soon. I shudder when I think of going to to "work" at a company with all the headaches and pc drama. Instead I've been slowly building my services offered as an Independent Contractor, and I've been working from home helping small companies with their administrative work remotely.

Best ever reality check! What is your wallet and niche for living your best of life? The economy has changed and so we elders must become more creative in choosing community where and how to retire well. I'm moving out to niche.

I found the article very interesting. But I need your advice. I am a journalist with nearly three decades of editing, writing and proof-reading experience in English language newspapers. I have been trying for several months to find part-time online work to earn some extra money. But no success so far. I have visited dozens of websites offering work, but a vast majority of them expect you work for a pittance or want you to pay them some money initially. Could you please suggest some companies or organisations that offer decent money for professional editing and proof-reading job? Unless they are satisfied I don't want them to pay me anything. I thank you for your time and await your reply. Ravi

I work full time. I also have a small home business as a Saddle Blanket Dealer.

A few years ago, I got a business license. (Did'nt cost alot). There are warehouses on line that only deal with people with a business license. You can buy cheap & sell for more. Trust me, It Works.

Wow, no wonder some of you are having trouble earning income. Instead of looking for ways to improve your income and life, I see negative feedback to the suggestions given. Small wonder you're not doing too well.

How can I find websites that need data entry personnel or a freelance writer?

I went to chef school and also have a degree in Sociology. Have been unemployed 2 years here in California. The writer of the above story clearly did not research their suggestions. While they presented some ideas, most of them are far to expense up front costs driven as well as "Experience Required" before anyone can expect to make ANY money or actually get paid for doing, let alone actually make any kind of a PROFIT to do any of the story's suggestions. Not very helpful. Hope this writer didn't get paid too much for this "Advice" story!
