If the bridal party is small or moderately sized (but includes all friends who would be invited to the bachelorette party), consider having the bachelorette party the same night as the bridal shower...especially if travel is involved. My sister basically had all her close friends in the bridal party so after we cleaned up the shower, we packed into the cars and headed off to the city for the night. It saved everyone the hassle of having to travel for 2 different pre-wedding events.
