According to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), roughly one-third of the food produced worldwide for human consumption is lost or wasted, amounting to some 1.3 billion tons per year. It's great that there are those in our communities who want to help reduce the impact of food waste while reducing an impact on the food supply system. Food that is still-edible can also be of great use at local food banks.
