So is shopping just like any other addiction, alcohol, drugs, food etc.?

As a counselor at a non-profit financial counseling agency, I often speak to people with this problem. This can be a serious problem that can lead to divorce and serious financial problems. You can get free counseling from an NFCC member agency. There are also support groups.
