I like to stay at bed and breakfast places. I use bescover.com it's a directory of B&B's with great deals.

These are great tips for traveling on a budget. I’d also suggest escorted group travel when planning your next vacation to get the most bang for your buck. Tour operators are able to bundle airfare, hotels, transfers and sightseeing together, and pro-rate the cost of guides and transportation among the group, which helps keep prices down. You also save money by paying only one markup on escorted packages’ included services, rather than paying a separate markup on each individual needed service purchased from different sites when planning a trip on your own. Save yourself the time and leg work of planning a vacation as well when you book an escorted group tour. Other perks include the ability to see more locations in a shorter amount of time and share travel experiences with new friends on the tour.

Excellent ideas. Here's one more. Volunteer at organizations that offer FREE room and board in exchange for your skills. Couples, singles come together in a multi-generational, multi-cultural community; it's a win-win for your budget and the organization's budget. All you need do is get there. Read about it at secondcareervolunteer.com . Not a commercial, simply a realistic idea. I've been doing it for six years!

Some good ideas here but I would say that the best accommodation offers must be when you can stay for free.

Why pay to rent a villa or a room in a hotel when you stay for free via Home Exchanging. Swapping homes for a vacation has become more and more popular and should be considered for anyone on a budget.

Browse Home Exchange websites and see some wonderful homes for swapping with.
