Curious where Claremont, CA was ranked (if so)?

Truly great city for Seniors - Retirees and of course the Claremont Colleges.

Ms. Katherine Frank of NC suggests Chapel Hill a good place for retirement. I agree. She mentions Duke University at Durham but not the University of North Carolina,. WHY? UNC is just as brainy as Duke, and Chapel Hill is a lovely university town with Carrboro, another little lovely town nearby, We once decided moving to Chapel Hill, but unexpectedly our daughter and her husband planned to move to LA, though now they seem to stay where they are (Pittsboro). We have learned the lesson that we should not just follow our children. Now we are planning to move to northern California -- a place with a good university (you can guess which one), not far from the Sierra, the ocean, wineries, opera, ballet and symphony. We now live somewhere in Western New York.

I lived in Berkeley for several years during grad school and have returned for many visits since. I often felt that it would be a great place to retire. It the most creative and stimulating place that I have lived due to the presence of one of the world's best universities and the many entrepreneurs who are developing new endeavors (food, art, businesses, etc). It is certainly not the place for traditionalists, but anyone who likes change and new ideas, it is very hard to beat.

Chapel Hill's proximity to Durham, NC and the assets of Duke University, especially the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Duke (formerly the Duke Institute for Learning in Retirement), help to make it a great place to live at any stage of one's life, but particularly in retirement!

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Michigan helped Ann Arbor make the list. And there are 118 other brainy communities in the U.S. that have Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes. You can click on the interactive map at http://www.osher.net to find the one nearest you.

Many Snobs and people who think they are more intelligent than anyone else.

Not so scenic and taxes are incredible.

It is hard to believe any one with intelligence would retire here to pay these outrageous taxes.

Berkeley, California? Yeah, maybe if you just retired from your job as a communist.

my ideal for retirement will be in the ashes. Ashville NC in the winter, getting just a 'touch of snow" and Ashland WI in the summer. Ashland is on Lake Sperior , the world's largest air conditioner. With these two ashes, hopefully I would have small utility bills!

It is really a very delicate matter .. but need to be thought over..prior one retires..... As I m 51 yrs now.. and plan to retire by 60's...

My favourite place is in South part of India.. a place called Pondicherry... earlier it was a french colony...

It has Sri Aurobindo-Meera Ashram..... and Auroville - a meditation centre...

It has beautiful walkway on the beach.facing east..... also its a small n beautiful place...with french architechture... well planned small town...

Its modern as well as athenic... so one can enjoy best of both the worlds... and one can do lot of meditation... and dive deep inside self... becasue by this age one knws that ...outside world is all illusion..the real one is inside us. and we need to explore...to search for peace, solace... and to connect with God....

I am suggesting all this is by self experience.... So anyone like to know more about it.. can please email me.... atul_thakar@yahoo.com or mobile me.. at 0091 9967990572 ..

It is a place developed by Sri Aurobindo ( Hindu freedom fighter later changed to great seer and he pave path of meditation for all of us ) and Mother (She was French who helped Sri Aurobindo to achieve his task...) .. Both were complementing eachother....

Wish u all best of retired life...
