America's Best Healthy Places to Retire

Green Valley Arizona... I was thinking of this.. and then I saw information about all the open pit mines that surround that area... and the toxic dust storms that can happen. I really think you should reconsider Green Valley as a "healthy" place to live. I'm so thankful I did lots of research before deciding where to retire.

I would definitely recommend South Carolina. It's where I am from and where I plan to retire in a few years. Columbia or Charleston are recommended. But places like Sumter and Manning South Carolina are also good places to retire. Nice, friendly communities. Not very cold in winter. Short winters. In spring it's beautiful with all the azaleas blooming. Great for fishing. And I do love to fish. I highly recommend South Carolina.

Las Vegas, Nevada has it all; beauty, low cost of living (no state income tax), median home price under $200,000, weather, and lots and lots of entertainment.

Mount Charleston, for skiing, is nearby. Lake Meade for fishing and boating is within a half hour drive. The Las Vegas Strip with its casinos, world class restaurants, marvelous shows, provides all the entertainment one could want.

There are world class golf courses throughout the Las Vegas area and one can golf 12 months of the year. There are parks galore with tennis courts (free) and walking/bike paths.

The surrounding mountains (12,000 feet above sea level) are unbelievably beautiful and if you want to see the ocean, the Pacific is only a four hours drive away.

Viva Las Vegas!

Arizona would be a great place to retire! i'm a fourth generation Arizonan and would/will never leave. the whole bad attitude of AZ is only down south of Phoenix. but anything north is just laid back, with no concern. get closer to Bartlett lake and you will understand what i mean.

I would not recommend Arizona as a place to retire. The weather is terrible, the people are crude, and machismo is the philosophy in this state as evinced by their insane driving and general attitudes. Cost of living is high, taxes are high and on everything like the 10% sales tax in the worthless little town where I live. Probably why Arizona locales are seldom on anyones list of best places to live!
