America's Best Healthy Places to Retire

A question I have always had is about the seasons. Is there any indication that someone who lives in an area where there are 4 different seasons has a healthier lifestyle?? Or that the changing seasons makes a difference?

I would be bored to death if it was the same climate all year.

We are the largest city in the United States.

Our population is over 8 million people. Access to other places in the world are but an airplane ride away at any of the three airports that are a short distance away.

We have two baseball teams, two football teams, two basketball teams and two hockey teams. Concerning the above teams a few are closeby in New Jersey.

We are 125 miles from Atlantic City and 13 gambling casinos.

Our beaches are beautiful. They run along Long Island, Rockaway, Brooklyn and the New Jersey shore.

We have broadway and all the latest shows on the great white way. We have piano bars and nice places to visit in the evening.

We're a short ride from Canada. The capitol of canada is 8 hours away. They have a changing of the guard and tours of the Canadian Parliament. The ride to the capitol city includes views of the 1000 islands. Montreal and Quebec City is not far away. Maine is also a beautiful place and close by automobile as is Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachussetts which has the city of Boston.

Stay here with us in New York City and live the good life. It might cost a little more but it's worth it.

We made the decision to retire in Ft Myers at an "over 55 " Community. It was the best decision we have ever made, (and we have lived long periods in several other states)...We bought at PELICAN PRESERVE, an "Amenity Rich'' Retirement Community at the edge of Ft Myers. We have interesting neighbors/friends, a very ACTIVE Group of people. The surroundings are as pleasant and beautiful as one could ever want. It's beautifully and tastefully landscaped; the central town center is very well set up with a "state of the art workout center (very well staffed), meeting rooms, a 99 seat theatre (where we have once or twice weekly movies (usually free, including the popcorn, a high quality restaurant, a couple cafes for quick lunches, etc, outdoor and indoor pool, 27 holes of Golf; great modern Golf Clubhouse, (and much, much more) It's one of Floridas best-kept secrets--- and it's all Very affordable. Especially now, with Real Estate prices lower, it's a great place to be. We are VERY happy here.

We live in West Virginia. It is wild and wonderful like they say and like living in a slower time. We live out in the woods at the dead end of a backroad with animals for neighbors. Our next door neighbors (of the human variety) are for the most part relatives. Out here there is more freedom to live your life the way you want. I cant think of any where else I would like to be.

Best place is Wisconsin - good health care, snuggle in the snow, eat brats, burn it off, and live among the longest group of people in the U.S. - I am running for Mayor in South St. Paul, MN - to preserve the freedom of my territorial pioneer great- great grandfather -- but we keep a place in the free air of Packer Land == Mikeoneill.net

People are living longer and staying healthy longer but the day will come when they can no longer go fishing, take educational courses in a nearby university That will be real retirement. What do these places offer in assisted living. By that I mean not caring for a whole house but living in a senior reitierment community where meals are prepared for you, cleaning is done for you, transportation is provided to go to doctors and even aides to give you a bath and your medicines. That is what is needed in your late 80's and 90's. I know I live in one of those places.

"Beautiful view", but Bella Vista is so much more! The people are what make the Village so great--friendly, talented, spiritual and from virtually every state.

We retired here to the beautiful Ozarks a little over a year ago and find more to be involved in every day. Golf is King, but so many other interesting clubs and activities abound--keeping you young at heart! Fun! Fun! Fun!
