An advisor I consult to asked if I can find out how a fund's USN numerical score has varied over time. Sometime about August CAMSX was a 9.1 and it recently fell to an 8.3 and is now a 6.9. We are trying to source the volatility and develop some future expectations. Are longer term plots of score movements accessible?

It is stated above that the Mutual Fund Scores are updated Regularly; but, when I compare my 33 mutual funds Zack ratings i the US News summary vs. the same rating published on the Zack website I find that: 11 are the same; 16 are +/- "1"; 5 are +/- "2"; and, 1 is +/- "3".
Don't take this wrong I like this "score" methodology that US News uses I just wish it was more in sync time wise than was it must be. I assume he difference is due to the fact hat Zack has updated their rating (which they do about the 13th of each month) and US News does not pick it up until some times later.
Any possibility US News might get a little more in sync with the ratings updates of the services?

For me there are four variables listed here in random order: fund fees/cost; dividends/interest; total return; and volatility. At age 63 I want less volatility in down markets and better payouts. I am also not enamored of funds purporting to be dividend and growth that pay virtually nothing or that carry loads greater than 1%.

I'm amazed at this system. I found some of my best performers in the hybrid moderate allocation class way down the list (eg oakbx, fpacx). I wouldn't use a system that puts funds with 10 year ROI's at 5% way above funds that hit 8-9% and that are tax efficient as well. Note they also win 5 yr and 3 yr head to head. Using this weighted ranking system isn't doing the job I would want it to to make solid investment decisions. RETURNS are what counts (unless you want a regular yield) given similar risk which this category should have.

be interested to hear from the readers, which weight to they give to each of the 5
I've been forwarding this to all my friends. This is the first time I've seen Mutual Fund research in a easy, streamlined format. Who would've thunk that U.S. News would be such a useful source for my investing needs? Hopefully you guys end up doing more of this stuff.
