What happened to funds like Mutual shares that averaged 18 to 20% a year from 1949 to 1989 or there abouts. Did all the managers like Michael Price go into hedge funds or what? I can buy PM and MO and beat up on most of these funds. Where are the fund managers who really work at this instead of making MARKETING the most important job function.

The majority of these funds have pretty low returns over the past 3 or 5 years. They barely beat inflation. The ZillionZ fund has average annual returns of 17%. What are your criteria for picking these particular funds?
