After the marriage rate to dropped Fan all-time low during the recession, it is starting to creep higher as people who were putting off marriage are now tying the knot. They are marrying later (on average, men at age 29 and women at age 26.5) with more dual income. Prenups might be a buzzkill, but “it’s good to have a mutual financial understanding before the marriage,” Levine says. “It involves a lot of money issues. It’s complicated.” Gay couples will find it even more so as new rules emerge all the time.
