When you read the anti-Auburn comments, you can understand why Tuscaloosa, AL will never make a list of this sort. Auburn is beautiful, great schools, wonderful climate, amazing people.

Tuscaloosa is the home of Bryce Hospital. There's a reason for that.

Albuquerque, a "Best Place" to live? Ha ha ha ha ha ha.....ha ha. You have got to be KIDDING!. Yes, it is a decent town. Dull as all Heck! I've lived/worked here in ABQ for the last 14+ Years.

I've never been to Auburn or Alabama for that matter, but I know that your comments say more about you than about Auburn. I assume from other's comments that you are an Alabama University fan. Are all Alabama fans so petty and childish? Maybe you should be less concerned about what it smells like to wake up in one of the best places to live in the country and more about the impending probation for your football program.

Highest Crime rate. Gang Problem. Intel is in Rio Rancho, not albuquerque.

The short description in this article is just a snapshot of scenic La Crosse, Wisconsin. Riverside Park is situated on the banks of the Mississippi River and is one of the anchors of Historic Downtown La Crosse. The DT alone has over 60 historic buildings making it the largest historic district in Wisconsin. Trail and mountain biking, fishing, boating, camping and hiking are all just minutes from your front door. Two world class medical facilities, two excellent universities and a wonderful two year technical college help anchor a solid work enviroment. All you can ask for, plus, hunting, shopping, golf, bald eagles, and great K-12 schools make this a wonderful place to live, work and play.

Nice article, but the photo for the San Luis Obispo section is a photo of nearby Morro Bay. Surely there are lovely photos of SLO you should have used -- the mission, the creek, Cal Poly, Bishop's Peak, cows, the golden hills...

For those reading these comments, please be aware of the "friendly" football rivalry between Auburn (Tigers) and Tuscaloosa (Crimson Tide), Alabama, and it looks like there's a number of Crimson Tide fans on here making negative comments about Auburn. I moved here from the northeast 5 years ago and couldn't be more pleased with my neighbors and the quality of life here. I'm beyond excited that we made it to the list and we are definitely in good company!

Interested in living in #2 Auburn/Opelika, check out the new golf community National Village. www.nationalvillage.com. Great estate homes and cottages. Next to Grand National and the #1 Marriott hotel in the U.S.

I miss Auburn so much. Auburn is a beautiful college town with small community charm. It also has the advantage of being relatively close to larger metropolis areas as well as rural outdoors… I actually lived in Opelika. It's a wonderful old southern railroad town with SO much charm. It has fantastic small town events in every season.
