How about the great surfing @Rosarita beach (today, lobster's the hot ticket, too!) & Hussong's in Ensenada...Very sixties...before the rest of the world knew H's existed! Amazing who one would meet there!
And, great rock concerts & The Yellow Ford Truck in Toronto! That was really the sixties as most people envision it was!
Back in the USA: Isla Vista, CA 1 mi sq. of burning bank, baby-faced Nat'l Guard & after-dark curfew for what seemed like forever! How was a working student supposed to get their laundry done in the winter???It's dark at 5pm and the laundry room's only 10' from the front door?!
What an adventure!

There are alot of us that are afraid to admit now that we are getting old. To imagine now that we are Grand-parents is scary and we just want to re-live or re-capture or youth. The country that we were brought up to believe in somehow seems to have lied to us or let us down and most of us just don't know how to deal with it. The 60s and 70s were about freedom and the right to be able to work and make a life for yourself without being oppressed and taken advantage of. Our Goverment was going to make sure we were taken care of. Well it seems as though that didn't work out too well. The big money got in and they took advantage of the general population and now we are back to looking for another woodstock! This time we will all be older and wiser and not able to get as stoned!

I grew up in the 60's and I can assure you that not everyone was smoking instead of focusing. I am not sure what mess you think we are in, but it has been 40 years since the 60's and that's ample time to get into a mess without blaming one generation.

I have been in New Hope several times over the years, having grown up in Easton. I agree with born 2decadeslate of NJ in spades. It doesn't change, especially the ice cream shops.

The 60's generation is what put us in this mess in the first place.
