You Know.....? St. Pete Beach is very popular place for vacations...

St. Pete Beach :

Ya, St. Pete Beach is correct. In 1994, the name was officially changed to what people had been calling it for decades. St. Pete Beach is a barrier-island community adjacent to the major city of St. Petersburg. The big city and smaller beach community are joined by two causeways. We didn't know what we had when we moved away. The schools look lackluster, but there is wonderful creativity going on in the classrooms. The community music program, Arts Umbrella, enables all incomes to educate their children in musical instruments, and by the time they are in middle school, their competency is astonishing. Most of my daughters' friends were children of either advanced students or professors at the University of Oregon, so the classrooms operated at a higher level. The infrastructure is child friendly with walking and biking paths separated from traffic, allowing even grade school kids the ability to walk to school... unless they decide to choice into any of the variety of schools: French immersion, Japanese immersion, Family school, and others.

When you asked another parent on your daughter's soccer team why they were there, it was always for their children. The downside to Eugene though, is that there aren't the opportunities for parents, and that's what ultimately made us leave. Also, the real estate is high because of the number of "investment properties" that cater to student housing.

Mr L, I'd say both are a good pick! Sacramento is pretty awesome- VA Beach is also Gorgeous! TOUGH pick but I'd say either's a winner...There would probably be more to do in California though.

We used to live in California and moved out to Overland Park, KS because once we had kids we figured it was better for them..Also, it's SO expensive in CA! We DO miss the year round sunshine and summer-like weather of Cali...We live in Overland Park KS...It DOES have all four seasons (more like 5-6 mos of nice sun and then 6-7 mos of FREEZING weather that makes you feel like you went into hibernation) & LOW LOW crime rate..

Matter of fact, WATCH OUT if you move here or happen to be driving through because the cops literally hide behind buildings & trees to write tickets for all kinds of crazy reasons! I've gotten the most tickets I've ever got in my life since living here, but it's not because I'm a bad driver but cuz the cops out here have NOTHING else to do but write tickets! There's NO crime!

Again, I warn you all...LOL.. And I'm DEAD serious... If you ever happen to be visiting, driving through or even getting off on an exit near Overland Park,KS- Olathe,KS OR anywhere else in this area...WATCH OUT FOR THE COPS! It's almost like they make new laws just to find reasons to write tickets!

Take care all. ☻

♥A mom of 4 in Kansas who misses having year-round sun.

I lived there from ages 3 - 17...Best place to grow up. Living in the city is such a change, and I miss my Kansas!

Great weather, nothing beats the midwest.

was just there for Head of the Charles rowing--it is an awesome city--Harvard is very friendly--even attended several classes. Great higher education in this area--BC, MIT, etc--raise kids there and make them familiar with these resources--
