Can we say biased?

This article so far off base it's useless!

There are other cities with better deals, lower notes, much lower taxes, great areas to live in and not even mentioned here!

And in this market, if you are trying to buy a house with a note less than $800, you aren't going to plunk down 20%!

There are areas you can buy a good house in great shape for the down payments of the recommended cities.

In the suburbs and the cities, near great schools and parks, places all over the country.

get on www.trulia.com or www.hotpads.com put in what your looking for and do a virtual tour of some of these places. This covers all states and cities. Set your price at $5000 with a limit of $100,000. If you get too many set the upper limit lower.

Use the mortgage calculators to see what the monthly note will be.

Don't forget that some mortgage calculators include the taxes and insurance in the monthly note price. You don't have to pay these every month but yearly.

Have fun, be brave look around at things and places that are new to you.

You'd be surprised at what's out there. Most real estate agencies have their own websites too.

The Real Estate Correction never *really* happened here. Try finding any decent place inside Route 128 and you are easily looking at 3-4X these prices and 2x the national average. I wish I had a job and more family in one of these areas to take advantage of this opportunity....

Mr. Mullins

It might be a good idea if you would include what "real estate" taxes would be for each area...I live in Texas in about 197k home and my taxes are $4300 per year making an $800 P&I with taxes =$1158 per month!!!

with regard to #2....the city is Tampa. Not Tampa Bay. I am sure there are some houseboats out there but most people live in Tampa. :P
