It might seem like the economy’s suffering everywhere, but it could be easier to earn a living in certain states. Illinois, Washington, and Texas top a list created by MoneyRates.com, which ranks states according to residents’ average income, based on factors such as cost of living and average wage. “With the way the economy is today, sure the job market is tough, but what people need to recognize is that conditions are very different from one state to the next,” says Richard Barrington of MoneyRates.com.
