Bronze, silver, gold and platinum plans
7 of 13
The health plans offered through the state insurance exchanges differ by how much the insurer and insured pay for health care expenses. Bronze plans pay 60 percent and the individual 40 percent; the splits are 70-30 for silver plans, 80-20 for gold plans and 90-10 for platinum plans. Plans with higher insurer payments carry higher premiums.
