All plans offered through state insurance exchanges must provide 10 essential health benefits: outpatient care, trips to emergency rooms, hospital treatment for inpatient care, prenatal and newborn care, mental health and substance abuse, prescription drugs, therapies to treat injuries and disabilities, lab tests, preventive and screening services, and pediatric services that include dental and vision care for children. The level of these services will not be the same with all plans.
