7 Reasons to Downsize in Retirement

I thought this was an article about retirement tips--does anyone have anything to add about that? Really sick of every discussion leading to a political statement rather than the subject at hand. I'll look elsewhere for real opinions on retirement.

Focus on the written article. The retired dentist is quoted saying "The best things in Florida are free: The weather, the beach, and the scenery." He ignores - at his peril - the reality that "weather" includes hurricanes. About a 3% chance any year of being hit along the Florida coastline. What's the financial planners' advice for that increase in potential loss??? Insurance???? Homeowners premium$$$$ increase by thousands moving from New England to Florida.

The Atlanta Financial planner games the system by recommending moves to places where retirees pay no school taxes. It is in every resident's best interest to provide good public education. Otherwise the community becomes populated by ignorant, know-nothing citizens, voters who don't know how to think and vote in their own best interests.

Personally I think ALL parties are to ''blame''....including the American people for allowing things to esculate to the level that it has. Voting along PARTY LINES is one of the things I believe started this downward trend of intelligence we have voted into office. Ignorence is another. I live in Tennessee and just down the road in Memphis crooks have been running things and getting re-elected for years...because of party lines and ignorence. We can continue to lay the blame everywhere we wish, but until the American people take a stand....and DEMAND that the politicans be held accountable for their actions...and term limits and they should also have to abide by Obama's new Health plan...NOT at tax payers expense, but out of their own pocket, things might change and some eyes might be opened to what the rest of us have to deal with. Walk a mile in another man's shoes hasn't been around forever because it was a foolish saying.

GOP Senator Jim DeMint, said if Republicans and conservatives stop Obama on health care reform, it will “break him” and be Obama’s “Waterloo”.

So Dave, where's the lie and where are your answers?

Which party's leaders have openly proclaimed that they want to see the president fail? Rush Linbaugh is the only person who has "proclaimed" this and he is not a party leader. Nice spin though.

As Gilda said, "Mr. Fader, you ask a lot of questions". I think you know most of the answers or some some partial truths.

A good lie always has some elements of truth.

Have a nice day comrade.

Put on your thinking caps tea baggers.

Which administration managed to balance the federal budget in the past 30 years?

Which party has engaged in borrow and spend economic policy for the past 30 years?

What was the federal budget deficit when Carter left office; when Reagan left office; when Bush (I) left office; when Clinton left office; and when Bush (II) left office?

Please define the term: Socialism

Which administration created the TARP program?

Please explain how a President McCain would have dealt with the recent/current economic problems any differently?

Which party's leaders have openly proclaimed that they want to see the president fail?

Do you realize that if he fails you are going along for the ride?

Would you admit that the failures of the previous administration might be at the core of our current problems?

Who among you think that corporate boards have your best interests at heart?

Why do you think that healthcare costs in our country are twice as high as the next most expensive country? Before you blame the recent reform bill, remember, these costs were there long before any reform attempt was made.

You can throw tantrums and fondle your guns, but that won't solve any of our problems.

Citizen - I agree with your last statement - you should move to Panama - and take all the tea-baggers with you!

The downsize reasons 1 - 10 are Obama socialism. He and his cronies are putting us into third world status.

Bob Smithe of MA 5:18PM April 20, 2010

We have liberal socialistic lunatics running our government and unwittingly slowly destroying our great nation. They are leaving a disaster to be paid for by myself, my children and grandchildren. They are aided by the intellectual elite axis teaching in our colleges and universities and by the arrogant and foolish maistream media. etc, etc, etc.
