I have a 37 year old handicapped daughter on SSI. I plan to retire at 62 later this year and my wife, 62 has already applied for retirement benefits. We decided it is better for to take this route so we can dedicate our lifes to making our daughters life more enjoyable and we are tired from 30 years of caregiving. This is why I couldn't continue to work on the private sector any longer. My question is: Can my daughter apply for regular social security benefits and would it be to her advantage. We do not have guardianship for her since it is so expensive and we have never had any problems when she has been hospitalized. Thank you for any advice you can give us.

my husband and i are both retired from government jobs under OHIO pers. prior to his retirement my husband worked in the public sector and is receiving Social

Security. I never worked in the public sector and never paid into Social Security.

Yet i am told by the social security office that i am not eligible for any part of his

social security until he dies. my pension benefit keeps getting cut for medicare part d. yet, his social security benefit continues to stay the same. the local social security office keeps telling me that i could have only made a salary of $840.00 a month to be eligible for a share of his Social Security. That is not even a reality.

if that was all i would have ever made in 25 years i would have got another job in the public sector.

Hi,

I was wondering if there is an appropriate strategy to use for a married couple when the higher earning spouse is on social security disability (total) and the lower earning spouse is working and is 60 years old. Thank Tou!

Do I understand this correctly, my husband and I are going to get only one

full check and the spouse is going to get a percentage of that check. Because

I though every one had their own account with SS and drew a check when

they retiered. Please help me understand this. My husband and I are the same

age. We will retier at the same time. Born 1954
