Ah yes, retirement. Outsourced, lost home and credit. Where can a 60-something, now working in retail, retire to on less than 10,000 a year?

Although I have about 10 years until retirement, Belize or some place similar is my idea of retirement. Family not close - a good family works it out. As far as healthcare - does no one take care of themselves when they are young? That is the time to worry about your healthcare! Eat healthy(no fast or processed food), take vitamins, exercise, don't smoke or drink excessively. Your health is an important part of having a good retirement.

Being able to afford to retire and enjoy the surroundings is important. I have lived in Holiday Island Ar for nearly six years and it is very affordable as well as extremely quiet and beautiful. Crime is very low. Yearly assessment at Holiday Island is less than $500 a year and a family can play unlimited golf on 27 scenic holes, swim in two pools, play tennis or pickel ball, and more for less than $800 per year. Trail fee for your cart is less than $150 per year. A marina and free boat launch is part of the grounds which puts you on the beautiful 1100 mile shoreline Table Rock Lake. Fishing including trout and walleye minutes away by boat. Reasonable entertainment includes the Victorian village of Eureka Springs 5 miles away and Branson, MO. less than an hour drive away. Beautiful Ozark mountains surround us and provide miles of views. State approved water and sewer system makes everyone's life simplier and cleaner. It is hot here this week, but we have four distinct and usually mild seasons, with snow the rare and usually short lasting. Check out holidayislandar.org for yourself. We can alway uses a few more friendly active neigbors.

I want to retire, not go somewhere and still expect to work to make ends meet.. Every article tends to highlight someone that has moved to a nice country after selling a business or had an extremly nice paying job...

OF course they can move, build a place and still have money left... For us that had invested through work programs that used our money in the stock market, because we were told by the government and those getting rich off others money, that this was the place to invest our futures.... Well I did, wanting to retire at an age were I could still enjoy doing something,,, but thats not going to happen.. !!!!!

Yet the government and it's cronies , still out for the buck,, still encourage people to invest for themselves so they can take away the only true form of retirement protection, Social Security, which we all have to pay into anyway..

Do an article with some truth for the middle income, (slowly the poor), tell us where is really a place for health, comfortable living, safety and just being able to enjoy life after 50 yes of working...

Stop advertising for developers wamting our money......

We baby boomers see what is in store for us and we need to start thinking cooperatively. We can find ways to exchange goods and services rather than constantly using legal tender. The idea is already around but could be used on a much larger scale. Serious goods and services exchanges. A dentist oculd provide care for a family in exchange for a skilled worker to install plumbing/electricity/paint whatever for his new house. Just a jump start on an idea but we can do it! Life outside the US can be a huge adjustment for a lifeling citizen. I wuld think of safety and medical care rather than having a maid or a big house. Prioritize! I lived in Georgetown Tx and it is NOT an inexpensive place to live. so what that there is an old University there. I need affordable, decent housing and food prices. Access to medical care and a safe sidewalk to exercise. Aloha from Hawaii where the COL is huge but the weather is kind.

Don't plan on retiring here unless you have deep pockets.

This a upscale town, pretty and artsy. The lake is pretty but expensive.

Why are so many people upset? It was just one persons veiw, if you don't like it just stop reading it and move on ,let it go. What is good for one person is not good for another. Lets get a grip and enjoy what life has to bring, does it matter where you live if it is your choice? Everyone have a good day

I think the idea of belize sounds good in this greedy world we live in today. No jobs or decent pay anymore with more Americans struggling just for a please to live.

We live in Hawaii.. Been here ALL of my adult life.. now time to retire... not going anywhere.. I need roots.. and they are all here. I would live in a tent if I had to.

Oh ya... and I love America.. not all of the politicians.. but I love America!
