I never see any thoughts about proximity to family/grandkids in these articles. How do people justify moving to places where they just don't see family?

As lovely as Santa Fe is, it is probably one of the most expensive cities to live in. The price of real estate is astronomical and only the richest can afford to move there. The povertly level is high, and no one on a fixed income can afford to live there. Get real!!

I apologize for Mike of AL's comment Emily. He is not what I hope most of us seniors become! Apparently he has more arrogance than reasoning ability! Your article was informative. It's always understood to me that you are referring to general area of a town or city, not necessarily right in the town.

ReRead it Mike - she says IF you want or need to work, and college towns offer some benefits just for seniors...Just because you're satisfied being an stodgy old fogey, not all we retirees feel that way and she presented options in various areas. Young folks keep you young, I don't want them eliminated from my life... and I can live in a senior community if I need that much peace & quiet.

Of all the places in Florida, Tallahassee is probably the worst place for retirees! It is a college and government oriented city! The utilities are very expensive and the sales tax higher than most other parts of Florida. The closet beach is at least a 45 minute drive, the beautiful beaches down by St. George Island are well over an hour away! What were you thinking to name Tallahassee a good place for retirees? While it is a decent small city, it is best for college students and state government workers. Traffic can be a nightmare!

Going to school keeps your mind active while the body gives up on you. If it were not for senior classes i would go bonkers. I will be 70 in 2 days, still would like to get my BS degree in liberal arts. I have an AAS degree in chemistry. Very proud of myself for that one.

Never too late to learn
