It is unfair that ex spouses can collect on their divorced partner's social security after 10 years of marriage and no remarriage. What if a person has a number of ex spouses? The SS system has to pay the person and all of his/her ex spouses, which can in no way reflect the contributions the person made to the system for his/her own benefit.

Why can't they just tax all wages (no matter how much you make) for social security, then there wouldn't be this problem. All those people who are lucky enough to make more then 113,000 should have to pay in just as well as the rest of us.

my grandsons father get SS and they said my grandson is not to receive benefits because of the kind of SS his dad gets. The father is in his 40's and did drugs, and receives SS. My head spins because in my grandsons 17 yrs. he has received less than 500. cash from his father. This systems works against the ones who need it most.

Every thing is going up faster than our benifits. some of us can stretch our food that we buy, but I have one thing to state, Our rents keeps going up every year. speaking for myself, I pay rent on my space for my mobile home, I pay taxes on said home, and then, I get tagged taxes on the space I rent from the owner. Is this legal? I rent the space, then I pay his taxes on his property and every year it goes up.
I would appreciate a reply, just to know if this is legal for him to add his taxes to the people who aready live in the park and pay rent.

I think we should get rid of the tax code and pay social security tax on every dollar we make. I am thankful for what I have and glad our HEAVENLY FATHER IS IN CONTROL of our lives. Greed and Pride have taken control, there is only GOOD & EVIL

I wish that people would cease referring to Social Security as an "entitlement" which makes it equivalent to welfare. Since it's inception, Social Security has been a mandated payment to the government with the "promise" of income once they reached retirement age. In some cases, this is true as many individuals have a very spotty work record, interspersed with a lifetime of survival based on income from welfare benefits, food stamps, Section 8 housing, etc. However, both my wife and I have worked our entire life, paying into the mandatory annuity, known as Social Security. If there had been enough money left over after paying SS taxes, income taxes, working two jobs for much of our lives and paying 1/3 of this additional income as more income tax, we could have purchased an annuity that would have met or exceeded the income from SS. Alas, that was impossible. I will soon be 61 and the looming insolvency of the SS systen, may mean that we will receive little or no income from SS. Thanks to the Obama administration, who bailed out the "too big to fail" businesses, the national deficit requires the use of exponential notation to calculate the deficit, which has become so immense that fiscal diaster and the destruction of the US looms over all of us.The lifespan of the American male is slighty over 78 years, while the females have a lifespan of about 82. As the "retirement age" climbs closer and closer to 70, most people will not even recover what they paid in. This may help the younger folks;otherwise they will not have SS.

when did everyone start calling social security an "entitlement" when for the past 35 years i have PAID into social security. I have EARNED every cent I will get and its insulting to me for anyone to call this an entitlement. WELFARE is an entitlement, lets not get confused. I think you should have to pay social security tax for every dollar you earn and report on your income tax, regardless of how much money you earn.

SC of Tn. is DEAD right! We Americans can absolutely point the blame DIRECTLY onto the Clinton Admin., and , for the very WORST OF ALL TIME, The Obama Admin. Both of these were run under the Alinsky model (Saul Alinsky - Hillary R. Clinton studied under him, and wrote her college thesis on his "model", and Barak studied under his regime, as well, becoming apart of it!, Hillary IS Barak Obama's MENTOR) Quit listening to ANY public media outlet and expect to hear ANY truth! They take what is true, twist it up so much, that what you hear no longer bears any resemblence to reality. This current Admin. is trying, and will, if given another term, bring America to the DIRT! You do not need to believe me at all, as I am not using my words or thoughts. Its all been on the internet, in FBI files, etc, for THE PUBLIC to see, only in 2008, everybody seemed to bury their heads in the sand, saying its not true, and everybody, look at what this admin has already done! We will never pay our deficit back, and all of that bailout money, less than 1/8 of it was actually pumped into OUR economy. Why doesent somebody ask BARAK HUSSIEN OBAMA what did he do with ALL of that BORROWED, AND PRINTED MONEY? You do know WE owe that money , and are expected to pay it back? How can this be done with a failing ecconomy, a shrinking workforce, and lower wages being paid? Where are thses subjects being debated about in our Presidential Elections? NOT one reality based answer have I heard! Now, Go online and google Saul Alinsky, learn about this man and his "model" for revolution and anarchy. Then add Hillary R. Clintons name to Mr Alinsky's, you will see the FACTS about who she really is, and WHY SHE IS IN OUR GOVT!!! One more thing , America, we need to look at, Add Barak Obama's Name to Saul Alinsky on your google bar (thank GOD for the internet now), You will FINALLY see what this presidents real purpose is, his agenda is to demoralize America by destroying its social status, and destroying its economy (this is already a FACT, quit BLAMING BUSH, He never had anything to do with this Alinsky, nor revolution). It all began with The Clinton ADMIN. as the first move in this POWER play was to get the North American Free Trade Agreement into effect, which, in turn, would absolutely demolish our industrial setor, which, in turn, breaks the middle class down.
