Oh yes, let us embrace socialism and enjoy other people's money. Corporations are not the problem, government spending is. Corporations keep their cash overseas because they make more and more of it overseas. They are discouraged from making it here, in the US. Living off other people's money is a short term proposition without regard for our children's future.

This is a great guideline for many babyboomers who are planning to retire in few years OR who have already recently retired.

Thank you.

Just outright ridiculous. This isn't a dissertation for the academic board and some folks aren't the best typists nor does spelling have much to do with intelligence. Lighten up.

Depending your your retirement income stream it may be wise to not have a mtg. Keeping it just for the interest deduction isn't the way to look it it UNLESS you have steady high retirement income from a defined benefit plan that benefits from the interest write off. And Congress has toyed with putting a cap on the home mtg interest deduction. The avg. Joe and Jane are better off without a mtg. STAY AWAY FROM REVERSE MTGS. Embrace Social Security and the new Health Care bill [which mandates that states set up a system of private sector plans for you to choose from or the Feds will do it for them]. These are the only things our gov't has provided to the middle class [at our expense] while giving TRILLONS in corporate welfare at our expense. Corps who then hire overseas, they are making huge profits and sitting on the cash, hence the run up in stock prices. I just don't get why some people like BJ see the former as socialism and the latter as capitalism at it's finest. Small and mid-size businesses need relief, not the big corps or the financial industry. Why are municipalities in trouble? They gave the store away to lure Walmarts and sports franchises to town and are stuck with the bills for street improvements and bond payments on stadiums. That is capitalism. Paying employees their retirement is socialism.

BJ - Learn to spell before trying to make comments that make sense. It's "before" and "elderly" and "rescind." Also, punctuation helps someone understand what you are saying.

Get rid of the house mortgage? You may end up living poor because you would have tens of thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of dollars tied up in an illiquid asset! Instead, borrow as much as you can afford to and keep your money liquid! Plus you still get the mortgage interest tax break.

Get rid of Obama befor he gets rid of you the ederly. Vote to resend the health care bill read what is in it for the elderly this will scare the hell out of you.Vote any congressman out of office that is not willing to go on Social Security and a fair retirment system and same health care we the people must use.

Bj Gober of TX 11:32AM December 28, 2010

Yeah, do that. And when health care is rationed and you don't receive care cause you're "too old" you'll save all sorts of money.

(1) Rent and watch the documentary movie "sicko" by Michael Moore.

(2) Support Obama and the Democrats in getting rid of health care fraud and implementing a fair and affordable system of supplying health care.

(3) Read "Fit For Life" by Harvey and Marilyn Diamond and learn how to keep yourself healthy as much as is possible.

This will help reduce the greatest cost of aging -- health problems!!
