10 Best Places for Single Seniors to Retire

This is an excellent article by Emily on places seniors can meet others socially. This is invaluable because so many are stymied as to how they can continue a social life. As they maintain a network of friends, seniors love and guard their independence and they should. As they date, it is probably a little humiliating when they have to admit that they need a few hours per week of assistance. Of course, they want to remain independent but may not have the extra energy for cooking and housework—they need senior home care. They may need someone to help them do errands or take them to doctor appointments and such. Elite Senior Companions offers friendly, helpful background-screened companions to help seniors in many ways. Ours is in southwest Florida, but there are thousands of companion agencies: http://www.eliteseniorcompanions.com

Not one place on there I would consider going, even remotely. Too hot, humid, dirty etc for the majority of them - - - and I am not interested in "dating" - I want to have actiivties available for health, education, personal growth, and friendship. Not romance hahaha.

I am going to turn 65 this month (legally senior?) hehe..can you refer me to a safe website where I can meet interesting guys of my age or older(but not too old) Ilike someone living in a quiet but safe lake area. Is Match.com a safe site to meet decent educated professionals with good humor? Thanks

So, where else is there if you don't want to move across the map to any of these places. How about the next 10 choices.

No Way....I have lived in NJ for over 60 years....moved to Cumberland County for two years....foreget it...I mean really foreget it. It is not like the rest of NJ...kind of like being in a 3rd world country.....I could go on and on, but I enjoy talking about the good things in life....and this is definitely not one of them.

Cumberland County includes Vineland, Bridgeton and Millville. Forgot to mention that.

Your criteria are very shallow. No way Cumberland County should be on this list. It's barely a fulfilling place to live, let alone to retire. It is econically depressed with high unemployment and few amenities. Its saving graces are proximity to Philadelphia and the Jersey shore. You can also get good corn, tomatoes and peaches in the summer. I grew up there. I know more than you do, despite your very limited data.

That sums it up.

Most of this websites are rip offs. They take advantage of most the old people by trying to sell them a lots of shit. The best pace to get retired is where you don't have to spend to much in taxes and live on fix income.

I love life but I believe that some times if a person has the ability to enjoy friendships of similar people in the same status, it would enrich our lives. I finally after too many years of rearing kids, and grand kids, am now free to chose this kind of life. I definitely would like to meet friends that first of all have the highest priority of being a good person...doing unto others as we would like to have done to ourselves, treat people with a geniune care and enjoy being around and doing fun things, like touring art exhibits, musuems, trying new dining experiences, going shopping at malls, exchanging thoughts of the good book and basically been a good friend. Good quality friendships are hard to find and being in the later part of my life, I don't have time to spend with people who don't appreciate life and who would not value a good friendship.
