regarding politics and SS:

Accusing socialism/communism of destroying SOCIAL security is laughable. Do you not understand the ideology your are complaining about? Social security is socialist/communist in nature. It's right there in the name, fer cryin out loud! To complain that such an ideology is destroying it is simply stupid.

Also, fascism (which is what the Nazi regime was- fascist) is directly opposed to socialism or communism. So calling someone a nazi while simultaneously accusing them of being a commie is, again, simply stupid. One cannot be both at the same time.

To blame government for giving tax breaks to the rich, and then complain that Obama's cut off point for the 'middle class' at $200k was too high directs your anger in the wrong direction. Obama wanted tax breaks to stop at the $200k level. In other words, people making MORE than that were not to get tax breaks. It was your precious REPUBLICANS who insisted we extend the tax cuts to EVERYONE.

I used to think that it was the younger people in this country who were so stupid and gullible as to follow the Repubs and the Tea party. It's clear though, that stupidity knows no age boundaries. Apparently you folks neglected to attend social studies or history class in high school. Or are you simply getting senile a little early, and forgetting all these facts? I may only be 54, but I remember these things. I remember Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Hitler. Why can't you?

Quit crying, and take a look at where the trouble actually lies. And for that matter, what you can do going forward. Or would you rather sit and cry about the past? It's not going to fix anything. Get off your rears and do what needs to be done. That's what I'm doing.

The comments made have been right on topic. You need to look at your reader's point-of-view. Without them, you don't have venue to write. I am a writer and a CPA.

That is what happened to me, I had to do something,

I will get a whopping 28.00 more when I reach 65 according to the SS office it will bring me up to poverty level.

I can not get assistance because, I'm not pregnant or have children under 18 but when I reach 65 I can get some assistance, What is a body to do

Its amazing how all the rich wealthy Senoir advisors keep saying "oh yeah and wait until you have reached full retirement age before applying for SS". What happens if you are 62 and laid off and unemployment has run out and no one will hire you because you are 62 and health insurance is 1000 a month, (if you have it at all). There's only one recourse from going homeless and thats applying for SS. The senior media advisors dont realize how bad it is for people 62 to 65.

By the way it takes 11 years after turning 66 to make up the early SS payments you didnt take.

Too many comments that are outside the topic. Like attributing illogical motives to politicians. Consider going beyond kneejerk prejudices to think issues out.

Wampascat.....let us be fair. There was no vote to disallow a Social Security raise this year and last year. This occurrence is based on Social Security rules already in place. Soc. Sec. raises are based on the level of inflation in any year ending the Sept. previous to the new year. These past two years the measurable inflation has been too small for the system to grant a raise. Let us get our facts straight!

It's nice that we elect. people that have the power to vote them selves raises and then vote "not to give cost of living raises to

old people on social security. Seem's that this country is being taken over by a bunch of Commie politications that are only looking out for their selves,The dunb ass old people are so stupid that they just keep voting them back in. Duaaa?

Guess this economy had to come from somewhere or something, what triggered it? Banking, Mortgages, Big business, thought Reagan, Bush were going to get the Government off our backs. Did they? Reagan fired his air traffic controllers. and started to bust the unions, and then he came up with Alzheimers so his son says in his new book. Maybe sleeping was the norm in the White House from when? Guess we will never be able to prove that, so why didn't the advisors actually stop him. Guess who the right is blaming for all of this huh?

Well, where did all the jobs go?heh.

sandman of MI 11:16AM January 20, 2011

The government is asking us to work well into our 70's. Ok..but what happens to the younger generation that are looking for job's. We keep working and the younger generation has no jobs. It makes no sense, and a bad balance. It looks to me that Mother nature is taking care of the cost of living. You know why? Every time a storm hits and there have been plenty all over the world. Who Pays for this!!! We do so, kiss our retirement out the window and unemployed generation cannot pay so What is the answer???
