Say Fred hear about the newest of Pres. Obama's Committees?

G.E. 1 of the highest earning Stocks (also polluted Hudson River, promising to cleam it for 10 yrs.or more :/ ) gets a new Committee, w/ committee chair and members of course.

There's the other way Social Security is being spent.

Remember the last Pres. Bushy promising to use "Excess Supplemental Social Security Funds) just for a little while He, He, He.

WHy do people not slam the White House and every House Office Building and every Senate Office Building w/ letters and phone calls telling them to cease using Social Security Funds period or don't get re-elected?!

get the administration of SS away from government management.

Is this retroactive? Two years ago I started accepting SS payments at age 65 with the intention of paying five years of payments back at the age of 70 to qualify for maximum benefits. It was a way to indemnify myself from medical expenses beyond what Medicare pays.

I can understand eliminating the option for initial claims starting this year. But I think it is unfair to prohibit someone who included this option as part of their long term planning process from carrying out their plan.

Am I reading correctly that no one can return the benefits amounts beginning in 2011?

Just thought I'd start w/a funny!

So now I can't start taking SSI until, what I'm dead? Eliminating starting at 62 won't save a dime. The politicians, all of 'em will keep stealing the funds so that SS will go away. This was started by that great actor and chief Dementia & Alzheimer's the husband of the President in the 80's, Ronny Regay! The communists, socialists, demo's, repub's, who get elected by the sheep will never demand to repay the billions that has been stolen to finance wars, balance budget(to finance wars), pay the Ken Lays of the US, oh I could go on!

Get more money from rich Wall Street traders, professional athletes, and movie and music industry fat cats by removing the cap of $106,800 and the problems of SS will be solved. It is OK to keep the cap on the benefits because the people earning above $106,800 have ample opportunity to save additional monies for their retirement via IRAs, 401k's, SEP, and/or annuities.

The US General Tax Account must be compelled to pay back to the Social Security

Trust Fund all the money it has stolen from Social Security Trust Fund each year for the last, what 20, 30 years.

R Parrish of LA 1:26PM January 21, 2011

Those making 106,800 do not get a break but instead pay the lion share for SS! A person who pays SS tax on earnings of 106,800 do not get SS benifits of 3.5 times the amount of a person who pays SS tax on earnings of 30,000. You have to know how SS benefits are calculated and the person making 30,000 or less are the big winners.

What are your sources for this? Where did you get this information? How do I even know you know what you're talking about. You have information here and no source for where it came from.

Phoebe of IL 10:20AM January 21, 2011

SS stops collecting payments at $106,800 because payments when you start collecting are capped. Paying SS on amounts above this number would result in a return much lower than all the other contributors.

Everyone pays to certain level and collects to a certain level. It is fair to all because you receive a percentage of what you contribute.

Social Security had been a self-funded program up until President Reagan rolled it into the federal budget in the 80's and issue IOU's in return. The SS program was well funded up until then.

Social Security was created for reasons that are still valid - even more so --today, as they were at the time it was created.

Federal spending reduction should start with reduction to federal subsidies to big ag, foreign aid, and no more world policing by the US with tax payer money.
