What i cant understand is how medicare can take out from ssi payment of say $115 month when someone is earning only $643. Does state even think about that?

"Social Security benefits are calculated based on your 35 highest-earning years in the workforce, and are adjusted for inflation."

Effectively your career ? 35 highest earning years, that's pretty much all of a 20-65 working career factoring in the unemployment that many will face. Some people won't be able to work much beyond 50 if the stats are right and that's regardless of whether you have to or not.

I am just trying to see on line my benefits instead of finding printed information. Trying to decide whether to take ss now or wait

Mary Ellen Toombs of VA 2:23PM July 15, 2012

I have a pension of 5000.00 a year and was wondering if that will be considered income towards my SS. And help with the 35 year average.
