We just moved to Taos, Nm. We have always loved the South west even though we have lived in L A and So Cal for the last 8 Years. The cooler temperatures are off set by the lower humidity. Great vistas, life style, recreational activities and cost of living make it to the top of our list.

Traverse City Mich is a beautiful location, BUT where did you find average home prices of $155,000. TC has high city property taxes & utilities. If I could fine a home for $155,000 in TC I would buy it. Most homes, even old fixer upper types start at $250,000 up. Average home price is $500,000 and up.

Plus our Rep. Gov. Rick (Dictator) Snyder and his Rep. legislature have passed new laws that now TAX ALL RETIREMENT PENSIONS and removed the property tax homestead credit. Plus Snyder's new road excise tax will add another yearly tax of $120 per vehicle attached to your yearly vehicle registration tax. But not all is lost, Sndyer and his legislature did change Michigans business tax. Giving ALL businesses an 86% permanent tax cut across the board. At least businesses are HAPPY! Seniors on fixed pension , the average working family and low income earners are paying for Billionair Snyders new vision for Michigan.

Don't you ever consider whether a place has a high crime profile? This is very important to vulnerable seniors. Don't you ever consider whether a place to susceptible to tornadoes, earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, landslides, etc. These factors could nullify a city's standing as a retirement haven. What's the use of buying a low-cost housing in a certain place if it is crime-ridden or subject to annual flooding? You should re-think your model>

Destin, Florida. Florida's Panhandle, little or no traffic, some in summer after all it is the 'redneck riviera'. Housing cheap to moderate. Military retiree's have all of the ammenities. Cool in winter with crystalline white sandy beaches and clear aquamarine waters. You cannot beat this place! No state income taxes!

Why is it that Pittsburgh is always on your list of best places to retire when nearby Cleveland is ignored. Cleveland has everything Pittsburgh has -- in fact, Cleveland's orchestra, art museum, and hospitals are even more world renowned!
