THE 10 best places in the USA to retire, maybe so. But there was an article today about the couple retiring in their 70s to Belize (my country of citizenship having given up my US citizenship in 1989 for tax reasons). I retired to Thailand, where the country is safe and friendly, mature, and 25% of the USA/Europe cost of living, and half that of Belize. There are some good choices now in South America and Eastern Europe, so one could make a list of the 10 best International choices. Why not benefit from massive savings and a quieter, safer life, by making the overseas choice?

if you're a middle ager looking for a place for the old folks--northern calif is good-there's a damp cold climate 7 months of the year--they will have horrible arthritis-and lung problems--shortening their life expectancy greatly--and saving you from liquidating their estates for medical expenses !

Rep de Panama is great with benefits for retires and visas.

Live in the mountain withh all year spring and summer weather or at the coast with 30 plus and you can live in between and choose your climat.

What could be better with great coffe and great people.

Retire to the United States? Good grief. A nice place to visit, but to live in a gated community/culture/country, and a rogue country at that, one that has nuclear weapons but not public healthcare. Not for this Canadian.

Boone, NC and surrounding Mountain Communities, Beech Mountain, Banner Elk, and Blowing Rock, are wonderful places to live, enjoy, vacation, and retire. Friendly people, of all ages, make this High Country a very special destination. I highly recommend the area to anyone that loves the Mountains, Skiing, Hiking, Biking, Canoeing, Running, Golf, Fly Fishing, and Nature itself, belongs up here. Altitudes range from 4,000' to 5,600' on the top of Beech Mountain, NC.

Come on up and see for yourself.

I'm retired here in Greenville SC. I lived in Pittsburgh Pa. And also in Boston Mass.I must tell you, If you want to live in Pittsburgh you will live with great people.I coulden't move back, but I LOVE THE PEOPLE. As for anything near Boston to live when retired, think it over. The traffic, the weather, the people.Everything fits one word. Miserable. Greenville SC. is great for every type of person in the USA.
