Working Into Your 70s: A Smart Retirement Move

I am a 66 year old female property claims adjuster who plans to work for a very long time. I climb on roofs better than most younger ones and work longer hours. I received my bachelors degree in business at age 55. Went on for Masters degree and completed my second Masters in Psychology 2 years ago. I can't afford to retire and enjoy working. I really appreciate consideration given for the older generation and believe employers need to start appreciating this age group. My age does not identify who I am or what I am capable of. It's just a number. I get very tired of hearing people ask me if I plan to retire. I started late in life with my education and career after putting a husband through college, raising 3 children and helping raise 4 of my grandchildren. Working keeps me young and involved and I work hard at being healthy to keep pace.

I am ever going to retire

Working until you die: A smart retirement move!

I have met very few 70 year olds in the office who are capable - better rethink this and make sure you have enough to retire on before 70

amyI work where there is no forced retirement and a pension is provided that tops out at 70. All but one opts for retirement at 60-62 except one individual who worked a little passed 70. He wass adverse to a new software program or couldn't comprehend it and was coerced to retire making it his decision. These people who say they will work to 70 and 80 are not realistic; how many 70 year olds are in your office? When SS began elders took it to make way for young people to start families,a home and raise children. My FIL worked for the CCC before WW2 and began his life at a later date, he retired comfortably with a pension, SS and IRA. The millenials will begin working life poorly and will retire well off and the boomers began life wealthy and retire to true poverty. A realistic SS or some type of retirement system should be in place to ensure folks aren't dumpster diving in their declining years as many now middle class will
