In your article you certainly forgot about the problems that happens as age decline. At times you cannot even get off the bed for more to drive or hustle transport to go to work especially if the weather is not good e.g snow storms etc. In these times people die by the age of 65 so when would they enjoy life?

It makes no sense to tax a retirement pension after the worker has put more than half of his life into paying income taxes on a salary. When will it ever stop? Sales taxes seem like enough to me. Then there's real estate taxes and business privilege taxes. What is the point. You will end up broke no matter how long you work unless you give it all away.

If one planned their retirement appropriately, they would have to deal with this 'negativity' !! Retirement is a new phase or career in one's life and should be embraced. I had many friends outside of my workplace when I retired at age 56.

I also had many hobbies, which I was able to continue to pursue during my retirement. My wife and I enjoy a rich retirement while living on 66% of our original income. We have invested funds that we have not yet had to tap into yet ! Why?, because we "over invested" in a conservative manner for our early retirement, while living "beneath" our means, ie: some friends bought huge upscale homes in new neighbourhoods, while we stayed in our 1976 style house for 33 years. We were still able to travel and save during our working years. It isn't Rocket science you know !

I took early retirement at age 53,sold everything and Moved to Mexico.I volunteer at an Orphanage, teach at the Baptist Church and play tennis five days a week. The cost of living here is so cheap, money is not an issue. We are able to give most of it to those in need and still have plenty to live comfortably. We own a home on a mountain overlooking a lake in an area where the climate is constant year round.Retire early, and live your life for others. We praise God for allowing us to retire early and we will continue to be obediant for his Glory.

Tens of thousands of hard-working Americans have lost control of and value in their financial futures through no fault of their own but because of the actions of corporate America. Even those who have planned diligently for the future have lost some or most of their savings having had the rug yanked out from under them by the economic downtown. We had plans to work until age 66; after seeing our children off into their adult lives and finally having the opportunity to concentrate on increasing our savings, BAM! Our jobs are cut and not another job in sight as no one will hire us. We have lost peace of mind along with our income and healthcare benefits and therefore must draw from what savings we do have in order to meet living and medical expenses & hope to be able to stretch the savings until we are eligible for Medicare and Social Security which is several years away. At least we have some savings; those that don't are being forced to bunk with relatives or worse; they're out on the streets. If this was our case, we just don't know were we would lay our heads tonight.

I'm retiring at age 45 after 27 years of working. I will have a pension of $5500 a month and health benefits for life, so I don't plan on doing much. I will be renting surfboards if I need any mental stimulation....life is tooooo short!!

Geez

I must be crazy...at 66 and i am only the 14% that

decided to wait until now? I still work 70 hrs. a week with my own company, drink beer and chase the wife around when i can. What would i do if

i had to stay home and watch TV,listen to health and pill commercials or surf the internet??

For those thinking about it......get off your fat

ass and move around and enjoy working at something you like!
