The Tigers' fans are located slightly west of the Alabama-Georgia state line, an hour and a half from the booming Atlanta metropolis.

Cultural Attractions

Auburn University provides a theater and a museum, while the city's various clubs offer such activities as modern dance lessons and bridge.

Recreation

With football Saturdays playing such a large part in Auburn life, the city turns into the fifth most populous in Alabama when the Tigers have home games.

Historical

"War Eagle," Auburn's battle cry, dates to 1892, when the first Auburn-Georgia football game was played. A spectator and veteran of the Civil War had a pet eagle that flew over the stadium as the Tigers went on to defeat Georgia.
