Geography

Little Rock is located in central Arkansas. The Arkansas River runs along the north side of the city.

Cultural Attractions

The Arkansas Arts Center has an extensive collection of drawings, paintings, and contemporary crafts. Artists represented include Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Cezanne, and Georgia O'Keeffe.

Recreation

Little Rock is home to dozens of parks. To the west of the city, Pinnacle Mountain State Park offers hiking, canoeing, and environmental education.

Historical

Little Rock became a focus of the civil rights movement with the integration of Central High School in 1957. The school building is now a national historic site.

Economy

The state government is a top employer in Little Rock, but the area is also corporate headquarters to companies like Alltel and Dillard's.
