Geography

Danbury is located northwest of New Haven, in western Connecticut.

Cultural Attractions

The city has honored some of its most famous residents by preserving their homes. The Marian Anderson Studio is where the celebrated singer and 50-year resident rehearsed, and the Ives House is the birth place of composer Charles Edward Ives.

Recreation

Danbury boasts many opportunities for the visual and performing arts, as well as several museums, including the Danbury Railway Museum and the Military Museum of Southern New England.

Historical

In its prime, the "Hat Capital of the World" contained 30 factories that manufactured five million hats each year.

Economy

Hat manufacturing flourished in Danbury's early years, partly because of availability of natural resources, especially water.
